About Me
I started as a certified labor doula in 2005 and am currently a Certified Professional Midwife. I am a mother of 8 children. I am passionate about natural birth and I am eager to help other mothers achieve the birth experience that they desire. I believe birth can be an incredibly empowering event, even if it does not happen the way that we plan. By educating ourselves about the birthing process, we take the power into our own hands so that we can make the best choices about our babies and our births.
I am a retired La Leche League Leader and IBCLC. I have breastfed my own 8 children, including tandem nursing two sets of twins. After the successful HBAC (homebirth after cesarean) of my twin daughters, I decided to become even more involved in ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network.) I was the ICAN chapter leader for Augusta, GA, working to ensure that more women can be empowered to give birth the way they choose. |
Training & Education |
I trained as a labor doula with DONA in February 2005. I was later certified and have since let my certification lapse. I became accredited as a La Leche League Leader in April 2007 and continued my lactation education through a series of accredited college courses, continuing education credits, and through an IBCLC-preparation course. I took the certification exam to become an IBCLC in October 2016 and passed, becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery from Midwives College of Utah in 2017. and a Masters in Maternal-Child Health Systems in 2020. I recently moved away from the CSRA due to my husband's military career. I am a Certified Professional Midwife and I am currently licensed in the state of Washington. |
